A great party open to the public, with music, theater and actions in the street, will be the gateway to the first edition of the Mercado de las Artes Performativas del Atlántico Sur (MAPAS). It will take place next July 12, Wednesday, in the symphonic hall of the Auditorio de Tenerife (free admission). MAPAS opens with a universal show, but rooted in the land that welcomes it.
The proposal of the company Pieles, Canto al Trabajo, is renewed and enriched with the collaborations of musicians from all the islands such as Benito Cabrera (Lanzarote), Carlos Oramas (Gran Canaria), Itahisa Darias (La Gomera), Angélica Pérez (El Hierro ) and Sulay Curbelo (Fuerteventura), which will provide, if possible, added value to this avant-garde proposal that is inspired by the folklore of the Canary Islands and that also draws on traditional manifestations from the rest of the world. Canto al trabajo is inspired by the strength and authenticity of a culture linked to nature, to the intrinsic wisdom of an ancient people. The work songs are a manifestation of the voice of the people, they constitute a musical genre in themselves, they are manifested in various forms and styles, and they represent a way of expressing their reality for the worker. The songs of the field are the loyal companions of the reaper, of the gatherers, of the farmer. And this telluric and motivating force, so typical and apparent for cultural exchange, the kind that does not need languages to be understood, will be reinforced in turn by the presence of 101 Brass Band (which will receive viewers from 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. start the show in the symphony hall at 8:00 p.m.), and the always inspiring and revitalizing drums of Bloko del Valle, in a multidisciplinary, global show that will involve the public and take them fully into the artistic proposals that offers this first edition of the market. The night will end with Llam Street Music and Eva Olvido putting all the people who have come to enjoy this night of partying to dance, which is expected to be a crowd given the free nature of all the shows that make up the MAPAS program.
The Mercado de las Artes Performativas del Atlántico Sur (MAPAS), a project of the Cabildo de Tenerife, UnaHoramenos Producciones and Circulart will offer viewers of Tenerife, free of charge 28 performing arts shows and 21 musical performances, in addition to an extensive program in restaurants, streets and entertainment venues in the city of Santa Cruz de Tenerife. Spaces such as the Adán Martín Auditorium of Tenerife, the Guimerá Theater, the La Recova art room or TEA Tenerife Espacio de las Artes will be a hotbed of cultural exchanges, not only thanks to the business meetings with 126 programmers from the five continents who attend to the Island to know first-hand the proposals presented in MAPS, but with the live samples that will allow any citizen to know first-hand the proposals of live arts that are currently brewing in countries of Latin America, Africa and the south of Europe.
The live shows, open and free, will take place between July 13 and 15, from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. and on July 16 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The spaces that will host these activities will be the Tenerife Auditorium, the Guimerá Theater, the La Recova space and numerous street stages.
With MAPAS, Tenerife will become the center of international reference among creators of live performing arts - music, theater, dance and circus arts - in southern Europe (Spain and Portugal), Latin America and Africa, and those responsible for programming of theaters, cultural spaces, festivals and other gatherings from around the world.
