In this third edition, the MAPAS organization, made up of the Cabildo de Tenerife, unahoramenos Producciones and Circulart, presents an important novelty, since artists and cultural programmers will be joined by the participation in the market of booking, management and distribution agencies, with which MAPAS 'commitment to the real impulse of the cultural industry, the international circulation of artistic proposals and the professionalization of activities related to the performing arts is consolidated.
The participation of artists and companies is open to individuals, companies, groups and professional groups that carry out their activity in the disciplines of music, theater, dance, circus and street arts. The entire registration process will be managed through the platform www.mapasmercadocultural.com. Among other requirements, artists must prove at least one year of experience and agencies must demonstrate at least three years of experience in their activity.
The selection criteria that the jury will use, as in previous editions, will be the quality, professional trajectory and projection potential in markets of the proposals that are presented.
The participation data of MAPAS 2018 supports not only the celebration of a new edition next year, but also the incorporation of new agents that will give even more value to this global meeting of music and the performing arts, a space for cultural exchange in which to share, know, learn and disseminate art from a common perspective, which is the worldwide projection of the projects that are generated on Africa, Latin America and southern Europe.
MAPAS 2018 turned Tenerife into an international meeting point for the performing arts and music, with 3,500 business meetings held between 164 artistic and musical groups and 140 programmers from 40 countries who met to close distribution agreements, create and expand their network and participate in a professional exchange between the artistic community around the world. More than 15,500 attendees enjoyed the 56 live artistic shows of music, theater, dance, street arts and circus that were offered free of charge in various cultural spaces in Tenerife during the market celebration.
